Scores are up
June 23, 2009As of 12:30 Pacific today, MCAT scores for the May 22nd test date are up. People are already sharing scores.
I couldn’t help but laugh at one guy who says he got a 12-12-6….LoL WTF?
As usual, only the 30+ people are posting and bragging right now………. *sigh* I can’t help but roll my eyes at the 40 and 41 I just saw either.
Then there’s the usual…..”OMG I only got a 32…… I need to retake!”
I am personally too scared to look. I’m just staring at the login screen right now. Maybe I’ll check in 30 mins.

12 Pacfic, 3 Eastern
June 23, 2009Well it’s noon here in CA and AAMC has yet to post my MCAT score today. I’m a little nervous, but not at the point of a break down.
StudentDoctor.net continues to be a cluster f$%#. It’s helpful to read the conversations of people who called the aamc, but almost not worth the heart attack of reading peoples’ posts of registering for next months exam already. Are you beginning to see why I strongly dislike and distance myself from stereotypical premeds?

Father’s Day
June 21, 2009Well as a an “impressive” number of my peers from high school receive father’s day gifts, I was working on medical school applications.
While watching my cousins from the east coast swim in the pool, I finally got at starting crack at my personal statement. There’s just so much to say, combined with the fact that my brain likes to jump around, that so far I have a metaphorical shot gun spread of a word document.
Also today is the dawn of my MCAT score release. Everyone on StudentDoctor from the May 22nd MCAT is freaking out, which is why I strongly dislike StudentDoctor…..but more on that some other time.

Test Day!
May 22, 2009Well I finally took the MCAT today! Whew!
It was a doozie (does anyone even say that anymore?). I don’t think I’ve ever been so hyper focused in my life before. I must not have uttered a single word from the time I woke up until I got to the testing center. I was raining and I got worried about running into to traffic, but thank God there were no problems.
Ironically I had a very difficult time in the Biological Sciences section but g0t through Physical Sciences without too much strain. What an odd reversal. As for Verbal Reasoning…meh we’ll see.
In the writing sample I’m pretty sure one essay was average (it was a weird cross topic between humanities and politics and sociology) and as usual I kicked butt on the economics topic for the second essay.
My only complaint about the testing process is that the strict identification procedures at EVERY break took time out of the 10 minutes you have to eat and go to the bathroom between sections. I was severely PO’ed about that and I made sure to let every survey I took know about it.
I ended up running into another Californian at the test which was a relief to both of us. She took a cab to the test center so I gave her a ride back to the airport…….with a little side trip to a sushi restaurant for some Sapporo an Saki to celebrate the end of studying for MCATs.
I’ll return to CA tomorrow a less stressed man.

Practice Run
May 21, 2009I went to the testing center this morning to make sure I knew where it was and save my self from worrying tomorrow.
My MCAT protip: Make sure you know how to get to the testing center WIHTOUT your GPS or NAV in case it fails to power up, connect, or the Russians forget it’s not 1951 and start shooting down any satellites that don’t have a hammer and sickle on them.
I took a practice test today (which is the number one thing you’re NEVER supposed to do) and scored in the mid twenties which just made me panic, cry, and smoke. Sometimes I just have to learn the hard way.

The Grand Canyon State
May 20, 2009I arrived in Phoenix today to take the MCAT on the 22nd. Staying at the Hayatt Place which is one of their new franchisees. I recommended staying at one if you get the opportunity. 40 inch LCD TVs with free HD programming = WIN.
